GENERATIVE AI POLICY

Jurnal Manajemen dan Bisnis Equilibrium (Jurnal MBE) recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools may assist with research and manuscript preparation. Their use must be transparent, responsible, and consistent with research integrity and publication ethics.

Use of AI by Authors

Authors may use generative AI tools to support tasks such as language editing, translation, summarizing, coding, or data analysis. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical acceptability of all submitted content, including content produced or assisted by AI.

Authors must disclose any substantive use of generative AI in preparing a manuscript. The disclosure should identify the tool and explain how it was used. When AI is used in research design, data collection, data processing, or analysis, authors must describe the use in the relevant section of the manuscript with enough detail to support transparency and reproducibility.

Routine spelling, grammar, and punctuation checks that do not generate or substantially revise scholarly content do not require disclosure.

Authors must verify all AI-generated content, citations, data, and factual claims before submission. AI tools must not be listed as authors or cited as accountable sources. Authors must also ensure that AI use does not result in plagiarism, fabricated references, inaccurate reporting, breaches of confidentiality, or violations of copyright, privacy, research ethics, or third-party rights.

Use of AI by Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and the peer-review process. They must not upload manuscripts, reviewer reports, or other confidential materials to generative AI systems unless the journal has authorized the use and confidentiality can be assured.

AI tools may assist editorial or review tasks only when their use is permitted by the journal and does not replace human judgment. Editors and reviewers remain responsible for their decisions, assessments, and recommendations. They must disclose relevant AI use to the Editorial Team when required.

Editorial Assessment

The Editorial Team may request clarification about the use of AI in a submission. Undisclosed or inappropriate use may result in a request for revision, rejection, or further action under the journal’s publication ethics and correction and retraction policies.

This policy applies to authors, editors, reviewers, and other contributors involved in the publication process. Jurnal MBE may update this policy as relevant standards and responsible practices evolve.

The ICMJE guidance states that AI cannot be credited as an author, authors must verify AI-generated material, and confidential manuscripts must not be uploaded to AI systems where confidentiality cannot be assured.
