Abstract

Population growth in Badung Regency has increased every year, marked by increasing economic growth which has resulted in increased purchasing power of the community for private vehicles. This causes traffic density and congestion, especially on Jalan Cokroaminoto due to the activities of Sempidi Market. This study analyzes the impact of side obstacles on road performance. The methods used include direct observation and surveys of traffic volume, side obstacles, and vehicle travel time on weekdays and weekends. The results of the Degree of Saturation (DS) analysis show a value of 0.78 (service level D) when the market is operating and 0.7 (service level C) after the market closes. The average speed of vehicles decreased significantly, with motorcycles 33.86 km/h, light vehicles 29.76 km/h, and heavy vehicles 23.80 km/h. The conclusion of the study shows that market activities reduce road capacity, reduce road performance, and slow down traffic flow.
