Abstract

The Balitex Riverbank (Tukad Balitex) in the Kesiman Petilan area, East Denpasar, is an urban area characterized by intensive interactions between human activities and the environment, resulting in issues such as water pollution, waste accumulation, sedimentation, and seasonal flood risk. This study aims to examine the existing conditions of the riverbank and to analyze the application of green building concepts as a flood mitigation strategy. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method through field observations and literature review. The findings indicate that green building principles have not been optimally implemented, as evidenced by limited infiltration areas, the dominance of impermeable materials, and the absence of a planned stormwater management system. The application of green building concepts, including the arrangement of green open spaces along the river corridor, the use of permeable materials, passive building design, and rainwater management, has the potential to reduce flood risk and improve environmental quality. This study is expected to serve as a basis for recommendations for sustainable and environmentally friendly riverbank planning.
